Use MIDI Draw in the Piano Roll Editor

You can create and edit MIDI controller information directly in the Piano Roll Editor. Working with controller information can be easier when you can see the notes that will be affected. For information about using MIDI Draw, see Use MIDI Draw.

View and create controller events

  1. Open a MIDI Draw display in the Piano Roll Editor by doing one of the following:

    • Choose a MIDI Draw command from the View menu in the Piano Roll Editor menu bar.

    • Click the MIDI Draw button at the lower-left corner of the Piano Roll Editor, then choose a MIDI controller from the Controller pop-up menu on the left.

    The selected controller type (volume, for example) is shown in a gray field below the Piano Roll Editor grid.

  2. Click at different points in the gray area to create MIDI Draw points.

A connecting line is automatically created between the MIDI Draw points.

Resize the MIDI Draw area

  • Grab and vertically move the dividing line that separates the MIDI Draw area from the Piano Roll Editor grid.
