Replace audio recordings
You can record over an existing audio recording, or a portion of it, replacing the original recording with the new recording.
Replace recording is only available when Show Advanced Tools is selected in the Advanced preferences pane.
Replace an audio recording

Do one of the following:
Choose Record > Overlapping Audio Recordings > Cycle Mode Off > Replace.
Choose File > Project Settings > Recording, then choose No Cycle > Replace from the Overlapping Audio Recordings pop-up menu.
Control-click the Record button in the control bar, choose Recording Settings from the shortcut menu, then choose No Cycle > Replace from the Overlapping Audio Recordings pop-up menu.

Click the Replace button in the control bar.
Note: You can add the Replace button by customizing the control bar. For information, see Customize the control bar.
Click the Record Enable button in the track header of the track you want to record to.
Move the playhead to the point in the ruler where you want to start recording.
Logic Pro includes a metronome, which plays a steady beat to help you play in time while recording. You can turn this on or off using the Metronome button in the control bar.

Click the Count-in button in the control bar to have the metronome play a predefined count-in before recording starts.
Note: For the initial setup, choose Record > Count-in, then choose a measure.
Click the Record button in the control bar (or press R) to start recording.
Start singing or play your instrument.
Click the Stop button in the control bar (or press the Space bar) to stop recording.
The original recording is replaced with the new recording.
